Hexe - FOUND
we went out to leave fliers with some of the other neighbours we hadn’t been to yet
went up the road to the corner and started going down the next road, talking to them and giving them each a flier. we went down like 3 houses and at that one, a little girl greeted us first and then her mom came over, she had two patches on her chest with tubes attached to them, heart moniter stuff? and she told me that aww, she’d look out for a cat that looks like this for us, absolutely.
and then the little girl grabbed the flier to look at it, you know how like little kids just TAKE, WANT TO SEE
and she was like, “oh I saw that cat. it went that way” totally nonchalantly, so of course I said, “really?? how long ago???” “like… 15 minutes ago.”
and the mom told us we could go into their back field, so we did. it was full of old junk cars and stuff like that, and dogs in their back yard (they were fenced in) started barking and going nuts that we were there, but we got a little further away and they died down a little. I started calling for Hexe, and I hear that MMRRRRRUUUUUUUUUUHHH sound cats make when they’re really really scared coming from behind a tree in the field! and I was like?? is that really her??? so I called her again and she answered the same way. I walked over there and she’s standing there in a clearing looking terrified, frozen halfway between poses, and I thought for a moment that maybe she had an injury somewhere, so I walked very slowly up to her and held out my hand.
she sniffed me and rubbed her head very gently against my hand, very cautiously, and let me pick her up. I could feel every muscle in her body tense as we walked past all those little dogs again.
I had written on the fliers that there would be a $50 reward for whomever would be able to help us find her, so we gave the little girl $50.
when we were pulling out, the little girl came back to the car and was instructed to give it back to us but we said NO, IT’S YOURS and then pointed at the girl and told the mom that it was hers, she helped us find Hexe! and we left and the little girl ran back to the house like REALLY HAPPY
the place looked like it was owned by a family that wasn’t doing very well financially, it was really great that we were able to give them that reward ;; and we were really glad to have found Hexe, too.
I don’t feel excited or anything, just deeply deeply relieved to have her back. she was missing for several days and it was a terrifying experience. thank you so, so much, everyone who has spread the word around and sent me wonderful asks! all the support I’ve received even in the last few hours has been VERY helpful, and thank you all for being there for some lady on the internet and her cat ;;
Good End!
