This year, Poupon’s birthday approached with the overwhelmingly sudden intensity of an unannounced pillow fight starting on your face.  I contemplated what sort of offering to the Poup-Gods would be appropriate, and deliberated with Ongaku88.  Art was surely the lynchpin of my plan, but how would this best be achieved?  I was at Otakon, and without my art supplies.  I had an idea for a crossover - Jellies and Dragons, but it would take a good deal of time!  There we sat, until, yes, aha!  We knew what we must do, and how to manifest this strange blending of worlds.  Right amongst us, only an artist alley away, was an army of wonderful artists prepared to take part in the commission collab of the century. Tumblr assemble!

So, we got the ball rolling with the astounding Del, who tackled the Hawkanosuke, drawing fiercely as his majestic locks revealed the secrets of the universe to her and her alone.  Next the baton was handed to Soltian who gave Fenris a Tsukimi makeover and knocked it out of the park (and just so happens to be a Princess Jellyfish and Dragon Age fan!).  Then it was off to Savi who created the beautiful and perfectly unnerving Clara/Mabari.  Next Divi crafted the fighting machine that is Aveline/Miyaya.  Oceanwrath created perhaps the most important rendition of the special love between Varric and Bianca to ever exist (Banba and Train).  Finally, this masterpiece went back to Del, who did the background and flowers and flowing dress found in the upper two-thirds of the image.  Once Ongaku and I arrived home, she drew Merrill (Chieko) summoning some jelly demons with bloodmagic.  As a last stop on this crazy collab train, I drew Anders (Jiji) reading a saucy book and then added the tile/grid floor. Here is the poster that this whole shebang was based on!

So, HAPPY BIRTHDAY POUPONNNNN!!!!  And THANK YOU so much to all of the artists listed above.  You all did such an amazing job, and I think it came out beautifully (and with 7 artists no less!)!!  It’s an honor to have worked on this with all of you!!

And I just want to take a moment to tell you, Poups, that every artist that I told who this was for was very excited to take part in this.  You are a grand person and we are very happy to have you as a part of our crazy existence.  Thanks for making me laugh, think, providing the occasional delightful horror, (sometimes doing all of these things at once) and just being so damn enjoyable.
