But those adaptations fall under the jurisdiction of their respective genres! Today’s more sophisticated* video game storytelling conventions are close enough to movies that it doesn’t really matter anyway.
Though, really, what would you call The Super Mario Brothers movie? Urban fantasy? Supernatural action/adventure? ….Mexican magical realism?
*any mention of sophistication and video games must be taken with a deerlick of salt. I hope you don’t have any dietary restrictions against sodium.
